John Glynne Barber

John Glynne Barber, husband of Nancy Bullard Barber, died unexpectedly on Thursday May 24th at 6:30pm, after a brief illness. 

John was born in Leeds, England on November 26, 1939 but spent most of his early life in Leicestershire, England. John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Bullard Barber, son John Harrison Barber (Shannon Pack) of Portland, Oregon, daughter Gretchen Lee (Scott) of Durham, North Carolina, brother David Barber (Gretchen) of Warren, Vermont, and grandchildren Tanner and Harper Lee of Durham, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thora Barber.

John was a devoted husband and father who had a charismatic personality. His British sense of humor enriched his family and friends until the end. John loved an audience. He delighted all with his “Johnisms”—anecdotes built on facts but spun with his humor. 

John was surrounded by his wife, daughter, son-in-law, and close family friends as he passed.
