She was a graduate of G.W. Carver High School and was retired from Edgecombe Manufacturing. Sarah was a very talented seamstress who made clothes at her own home.

Mrs. Epps was a beloved member of the community who loved people and ministered to them in whatever way was needed.  She epitomized the virtues of a Christian woman by following the example of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by serving others and was an encourager to the weak and afflicted. Sarah was a pillar of her community. She worked closely with law enforcement and other service organizations to make her community a better place to live. She always encouraged her family, friends and neighbors to make the best of their lives and to always strive to “do better.”  Her efforts with the DARE youth program was recognized by community leaders.

She was deeply committed to church work and loved to talk and sing about the Lord. Her favorite hymn was “When I Rose This Morning.” As her health declined, she became a member of New Wynn Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Bethel to be more closely associated with her brother who serves as the pastor of that church, the Rev. James T. Lindsey.
